Summary of Role

The key objective of the role of the Sims IVF Specialist is to support implementing Sims Group medical policies, procedures, functions and activities at Sims IVF and thereby ensuring excellence in the delivery of patient care across all Sims clinic locations.

The role holder is responsible for supporting the Sims IVF Clinic Swords with day to day medical management of Sims patients and to ensure adherence to the provision of the highest quality medical treatment and patient care.

The role holder is required to effectively collaborate with the broader Sims Group multidisciplinary team to ensure clinic objectives and targets are achieved and excellence in patient care is delivered.

Educational / Registration Requirements/Professional Experience

Academic/Professional Qualifications

  • Registered Medical Practitioner
  • At least 5 years’ experience as a practicing Gynaecologist with sound working knowledge of relevant legislative, ethical and regulatory requirements.
  • At least 2 years IVF consultant experience

Registrations

  • Registered Medical Practitioner MRCOG/MRCPI
  • Affiliations with appropriate organisations within medicine and reproductive medicine (ESHRE, BFS etc.,)
  • Medical Council of Ireland registration
  • Irish work permit

 

Relevant Experience

  • Minimum 2 years medical experience in IVF and related technologies.
  • Subspecialty certification or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years' senior experience gained through increasingly responsible positions within gynaecology / reproductive medicine.

Languages

  • Fluency in English language – Advanced level - written and verbal

Management of Clinical Output

  • Managing clinical output and performing procedures and clinical activities. Working in accordance with current legislation concerning the safety and quality of human tissues and cells;  EUTCD 2004/23/EC,   2006/17/EC, 2007/86/EC, SI 158 (2006) , SI 598 (2007) Commission Directive 2012/39/EU, ISO 9001:2008 and any additional legislation, regulation or standard which, when introduced may affect current or future clinical practice at Sims IVF.

  • Contributing to defining the clinical roles and objectives at the Sims Group and providing a best practice philosophy in clinical practice & procedures ensuring the best possible outcomes for our patients
  • Adhering to the ethical and moral standards expected of medical practitioners as lead by the Sims Group CEO and Medical Director
  • Attending clinical meetings in order to effectively communicate and address all clinical matters with Sims Group Medical Director and clinical team colleagues
  • Keeping abreast of the latest clinical and scientific research and technologies in reproductive medicine and contributing to continuous improvement through suggested changes and modifications to clinical protocols.
  • Managing clinical data appropriately by maintaining and updating electronic

medical records on the unit’s IDEAS clinical database

  • Reviewing and revising clinical documentation through the clinic’s document control database Q-Pulse in accordance with current Sims QMS change control practices and assistance from the quality team
  • Supporting the Sims Group Egg Donation Programme by providing consultations and consent meetings for ED patients embarking on E Select or Simply ED Programmes.
  • Responsible for the review and release of tissues and cells in accordance with the EUTCD and Sims policy on Review & Release of Tissues.

 

Legislative Requirements

  • Excellent understanding of EU Cell and Tissue Directive and the clinic responsibility regarding screening couples.
  • Excellent understanding of Data Protection/Confidentiality ensuring self and nursing team follow established policies and procedures
  • Working with the Quality department on preparation for and facilitation of regulatory inspections by the HPRA and/or any other statutory / regulatory bodies

 

Patient Care/Customer Service

  • Ensures adherence to the highest standards of patient care and service.
  • Resolves patient needs by utilising multidisciplinary team protocols and procedures.
  • Investigates patient complaints and takes appropriate action in conjunction with Quality and Medical Director

    • Engages professionally and effectively with medical colleagues working for external medical practices to ensure the safe care and treatment of Sims patients

  • Weekly monitoring of IVF Cycle numbers within the medical team

Terms and Conditions of Employments Working Hours

  • Average of 40 Hour Week
  • Core Days Monday to Friday,
  • Limited rostered weekend work required on a rotational basis.

Appearance

  • Personal hygiene is essential to providing a professional image.
  • Hair must be neat and clean. No hairstyles that obstruct eye contact or vision.
  • Facial hair must be neatly trimmed.
  • Hair net in theatre area/beard net for bearded employees
  • No scented creams/perfumes in theatre area

Physical Demands:

  • There are no physical demands beyond those normally expected as a practicing gynaecologist.

Work Environment:

  • Clinical practice / laboratory / theatre.
